Rare first edition of the autobiography of Miss Cindy Ray. Born in 1942 as Bev Robinson, Cindy Ray was Australia’s first homegrown tattooed pin-up girl and a prominent tattooist. In 1959 she answered a newspaper advertisement from Harry Bartram who was looking for models to shave their eyebrows. At the time, she had no interest in tattooing but Bertram convinced her to get tattooed by promising her fame and fortune, along with paying for her coverage. She soon became an icon of the early 1960s tattoo culture, with her name on books, tattoo machines and jewelry kits. By the end of her career she had become one of the most famous and influential personalities in the modern history of tattooing.

In very good condition, complete with no missing pages, minor shelfwear to wraps and pages, loss to rear plastic cover, typical light toning else internally clean. A nice copy, scarce.
