Anarchism and Other Essays, Emma Goldman
First edition, first printing of Goldman's first published book and a cornerstone of anarchist and feminist thought. This collection of essays outline Goldman's anarchist views on a number of subjects, most notably the oppression of women and perceived shortcomings of first wave feminism, but also prisons, political violence, sexuality, religion, nationalism and art theory. Consisting of a series of speeches and items she had written for her journal Mother Earth, she thought of the publication as representing "the mental and soul struggles of twenty-one years". Fellow anarchist Hippolyte Havel (1871-1950) contributed a short biography of Goldman to the anthology.
