First edition, first printing of Burroughs' masterpiece and a cornerstone of beat literature. First issue with the original price of 1,500 Francs to rear wrap, later issues have a stamp or sticker indicating a new price.

Paris: The Olympia Press, 1959. Publisher's original stiff olive-green wrappers, white ground dust jacket reproducing a calligraphic drawing by Burroughs; pp. [1-6], 7-225, [226-232]. A very good copy in a good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding firm, minor wear and rubbing to wraps, a couple stains to text block edges and front endpaper, else internally clean. Jacket shows loss at the top of the front panel and spine crown, else just minor shelfwear and rubbing. Protected in a removable archival jacket.
