Program for the 1965 Newport Folk Festival
Rare program for the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, famous for Bob Dylan's first live plugged-in set, which included "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Maggies Farm." Wearing a black leather jacket, the darling of the folk movement and singer of protest songs launched into a searing, distortion-filled, three-song electric set that brought boos from folk purists but thrilled others. It's now considered one of the most important moments in rock history. New York: Newport Folk Art Foundation, 1965. Original pictorial wraps, pp. 63, [1]. Illustrated throughout, also containing Dylan's short story "Off the Top of My Head." In near fine or better condition, with just a trace of shelfwear, faint toning and foxing to wraps. Very rare in this condition.
