One-page autograph letter, approximately 9 x 7.5 inches, signed by Admiral Edward Pellew, 1st Viscount Exmouth. Undated but docketed verso “Mornington [?] Extinct Peerage / Mountararat [?].” In this letter, Pellew corrects published information in the 1845 Peerage, asserting that "the eldest son is not dead as stated...but is now with [?] living at Paris" and that "the Honorable James is also living." He continues with a further clarification on the Mountmorres title, noting that although the title is extinct, it "ought to be in the Extinct Titles" at the end of the book. Signed clearly at the close.

Written in Pellew’s distinctive hand, with a small tear and irregular edge along the left margin, not affecting the text. A strip of former mounting adhesive to verso. A characteristically direct correction from the famous admiral, who played a leading role in the Bombardment of Algiers (1816) and rose to become Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean Fleet.
