First edition, first printing of the second collection of Lovecraft's work to be published by Arkham House. One of 1,217 copies printed, in the original dust jacket designed by Burt Trimpey, who photographed carvings by Clark Ashton Smith to use as a background.

Sauk City, WI: Arkham House, 1943. A very good or better copy in a good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding is tight, sturdy and square, light wear to boards. Previous owner's name to flyleaf, else internally clean. Jacket shows some wear, with a closed tear to front panel, chipping and loss to spine crown and top of back panel, small stain to bottom of back panel. Presents well in archival mylar.
