Dusklands, J.M. Coetzee
First edition, first printing of Coetzee's first book, a shattering pair of novellas that probe the links between the powerful and the powerless.
Johannesburg, South Africa: Ravan Press, 1974. Publisher's original grey/green cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt; pp. (x), 134. A very good copy in an about very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains sturdy and square, minimal wear to boards. Bookshop stamp and penned owner's details to flyleaf, closed repaired tear to flyleaf with some light foxing to endpapers. Small sticker removed from half-title. Jacket shows a bit of shelfwear with chipping to extremities, small area of loss to spine heel, dampstaining to front panel and front flap. Scarce in decent condition as most copies were used as school textbooks. Protected in archival mylar.
