Handmade Papers of Japan
First and only edition of this beautiful catalog of Japanese paper making and decoration, illustrated with 108 tipped-in paper samples as well as black and white reproductions of Japanese depictions of paper making, along with an abridged reproduction of "Kamisuki Chohoki: The Handbook of Paper Making," which was originally published in 1798. Text by C. H. Mitchell, layout and design by Toshi Tanaka.
Tokyo: IIS Crafts, 1963. Stitched mulberry bark paper boards; pp. 128. A near fine copy. Minimal wear to boards, a few erased marks to front pastedown, a couple samples are lightly creased. Overall a very nice copy of this uncommon title.
