First edition, presentation copy of Smith's first short story collection, published at his own expense in a limitation of 1,000 copies. Inscribed by Smith to Violet Heyer, a long-time Smith family friend and neighbor in Auburn, with Smith's hand corrections throughout and the copy number (359) written on the final page. Housed in a custom case.

Auburn, CA: The Auburn Journal Press, 1933. Original grey printed wrappers, stapled; pp. 33. Light wear to wraps with a tear up to the first staple, small soil to front and rear wrap, closed tear to front wrap and the first few pages, first page corner chipped, corners lightly bumped. Overall, quite a nice copy.
