The Federalist:
A Collection of Essays, Written in Favor of the New Constitution, as agreed upon by the Federal Convention.
Reprinted from the Original Text, with Introduction and Notes by Henry B. Dawson
Signed limited first edition of Dawson's important edition of The Federalist, containing the original text of the papers. With an extensive introduction by Dawson and all 85 Federalist essays. Dawson argued that the papers should be preserved as they were written in that particular historical moment, not as edited by the authors years later, which created controversy with James Hamilton and John Jay. The title page states "In two volumes," although a second volume was never issued. Limited to 250 hand-numbered copies signed by Dawson, of which this is 180.
