The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Early American edition of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's modern classic, one of the best-selling books of all time and the second most translated work ever published, trailing only the Bible. This copy was printed prior to the publisher's merger with Harcourt in 1948, yet after the sixth printing (denoted by the lack of a colophon), in the second state original dust jacket indicated by the Madison Avenue address on the front flap.
New York: Reynal & Hitchcock, [n.d.]. Publisher's original salmon cloth stamped in maroon; pp. 93. A very good copy in a fair to good, price-clipped dust jacket. Binding is sturdy and square, minimal wear to boards, loss to spine tips, previous owner's notes and quotes to flyleaf, else internally clean. Jacket shows wear and chipping with areas of loss, closed tears neatly reinforced on verso, light soiling, protected in archival mylar.
