A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Mark Twain
First edition, first state with all three points present – the S-like ornament present at the caption on page 59 between THE KING, no broken type on page 72 and the extremely uncommon half-title printed on the recto of the frontispiece (BAL 3429, McBride pg 124). "Most collectors are content with a copy with early states of pages 59 and 72, and any copy with the extremely rare half-title is coveted regardless of the other states" (MacDonnell, 1998).
New York: Charles Webster & Company, 1889. Publisher's original decorative green cloth, stamped in black, gray, and gilt, spine decorated and lettered in gilt, geometric endpapers; pp. 575, [1] blank + [2 ads]. Illustrated with 44 wood-engraved plates and numerous text illustrations (some full-page) by Dan Beard. A good or slightly better copy. Binding secure if a touch shaken, front light wear to boards with corners mildly bumped and frayed, couple minor stains to rear board. Scattered thumbsoiling and stains internally with a couple closed tears, including at one illustration. Overall, a presentable copy with the scarce three issue points together. Protected in a removable archival jacket.
