First UK edition, first printing (preceding the US edition) of what is generally considered to be one of Christie's best novels. Featuring the recurring characters of Hercule Poirot, Colonel Race, Superintendent Battle, with the crime writer Ariadne Oliver making her first appearance in a Poirot novel. 

London: The Crime Club by Collins, 1936. Publisher's original red cloth, spine lettered in black, no dust jacket; pp. (iv), 5-286. In very good condition. Binding firm, minimal wear to boards with some light soiling and general grubbiness, small stain to foredge, a hint of sunning to spine. Faint offsetting to endpapers, else internally clean. A nice copy, protected in a removable archival jacket. Scarce.
