First American edition, first printing of Rushdie's second novel, winner of the Booker Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, subsequently selected as the winner of the "Booker of Bookers." Signed by Rushdie to the title page.
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1981. A very good or better copy in a like, unclipped dust jacket. Binding is tight, sturdy and square. Minimal wear to boards, minor sunning to extremities and faint ghosting from jacket to front board. Internally clean. Jacket shows light shelfwear, a touch of sunning to spine and a faint dampstain along bottom edge, protected in archival mylar. A nice copy.
