Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck
First edition, first printing of Steinbeck’s classic novella. First state with the word “pendula” on page 9, the dot between the 8s on page 88 and the dust jacket correctly priced at $2.00.
New York: Covici Friede Publishers, 1937. Publisher’s original beige cloth, stamped in black and orange; pp. 186. A very good copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains tight, sturdy and square. Minimal wear to boards, faint foxing to rear boards. Previous owner's bookplate removed from front pastedown, else internally clean. Jacket remains bright with mild shelfwear, small closed tear along bottom spine joint, minor abrasion to spine, spine toned. An attractive copy, protected in archival mylar and housed in a custom case.
