Oreo, Fran Ross
First edition, first printing of Ross' first and only novel, a masterful satire of racial identity. Far ahead of its time, the novel failed to find an audience and Ross went on to write comedy for Richard Pryor. Republished in 2000 by Northwestern University Press and by New Directions in 2015, the novel has been hailed as "one of the masterpieces of 20th century comic writing."
New York: Greyfalcon House, 1974. A fine copy in a near fine, price-clipped dust jacket. Binding is tight and sturdy, appearing unread. Jacket shows just a trace of shelfwear and rubbing. Increasingly scarce.
