First edition, first printing, signed by Didion to the title page. Her second novel, it has been credited for helping define modern American fiction and was included in TIME magazine's 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005. Scarce signed.

New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1970. Publisher's original orange cloth decorated in blind over black cloth spine lettered in gilt; pp. (viii), 214. A near fine copy in a near fine, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains tight, sturdy and square, minimal wear to boards, internally clean and fine. Jacket shows just traces of shelfwear and rubbing, tiny chip to bottom of front panel, very faint erased price to front flap. A very presentable copy, protected in archival mylar.
