1965 Newport Folk Festival ~ Original Program
Rare original program for the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, famous for Bob Dylan's first live plugged-in set, which included "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Maggies Farm." Wearing a black leather jacket, the darling of the folk movement and singer of protest songs launched into a searing, distortion-filled, three-song electric set that brought boos from folk purists but thrilled others. It's now considered one of the most important moments in rock history. Also included is the original single page Day Schedule, printed on both sides, and a Newport tourism brochure from 1965.
New York: Newport Folk Art Foundation, 1965. Original pictorial wraps, pp. 63, [1]. Illustrated throughout, also containing Dylan's short story "Off the Top of My Head." In good condition. Binding secure, wraps show light general shelfwear with scattered dampstaining and toning, owner's name penned to front cover. Internally clean and complete. Penned notations to the Day Schedule where Bob Dylan is mentioned, folded three times.
