The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath
First American edition, first printing of Plath's only novel, a semi-autobiographical account of mental illness and societal oppression. Originally published under the pseudonym "Victoria Lucas" in 1963, Plath would tragically commit suicide one month later. It was not published in the United States until 1971, in accordance with the wishes of both Plath's ex-husband Ted Hughes and her mother.
