Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand
First edition, first printing of Rand's magnum opus, an extensive exposition of Objectivism and one of the most influential novels of the twentieth century. Signed and dated by Ayn Rand to a slip affixed to the title page. Laid in is a uncommon, later promotional card for the book, simply asking "Have you read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand?"
New York: Random House, 1957. Publisher's original green cloth with author's initials in gold on the front, spine lettered in black and gold; pp. viii, 1168, [3]. In the first state dust jacket with no reviews and 10/57 at the bottom of the front flap. A very good copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains sturdy and square, minor wear and rubbing to boards. This was presumably given as a gift or used at an event, with 17 signatures to the front endpaper, stray pen mark to rear endpaper, else internally clean and fine. Jacket remains bright and vivid, showing light general shelfwear and two closed tears to the front panel, reinforced with tape to verso. Presents well in archival mylar.
