A Separate Peace, John Knowles

First American edition, first printing of Knowles' first book and masterpiece, in the rare first state dust jacket, primarily sent to reviewers and subsequently replaced before wider distribution. New York: Macmillan, 1960. Publisher's pale blue cloth, stamped in dark blue; pp. [vi], 186. Binding is sturdy and square, minor sunning to spine and edges, edges a bit rubbed and worn, small spot to top edge of text block, internally clean and bright. Jacket shows light shelfwear, minor chipping to spine tips, spine and back panel toned, front flap corners clipped with price ($3.50) intact. About very good all around, presents well.
