First edition, illustrated throughout and with a frontispiece portrait of Governor Alex Ramsey, with "graphic accounts of the siege of Fort Ridgely, battles of Birch Coolie, Wood Lake, Big Mound, Stony Lake, Dead Buffalo Lake and Missouri River." By A.P. Connolly, former commander of U.S. Grant Post No. 28.

Chicago: A.P. Connolly, 1896. Bound in light brown/tan cloth with gilt title and illustration to front cover, gilt lettering to spine, patterned endpapers; pp. 273. Binding remains tight and sturdy, minimal wear to boards with some soiling, sticker apparently removed from spine, front endpaper repaired, internally quite nice and free from markings. Protected in a removable archival sleeve.
