Call It Sleep, Henry Roth
Second edition, signed & inscribed by Roth on the flyleaf
Originally published in 1934, the novel went out of print for nearly 30 years until it underwent a critical reappraisal in the 1960s. It is now widely regarded as one of the greatest books of the twentieth century and a classic of Jewish-American literature. Paterson, N.J.: Pageant Books, 1960. A very good copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding is tight, sturdy and square, with light wear and rubbing to boards, along with a handful of very minimal smudges. Jacket shows a bit of edgewear, with a hint of tanning to spine and a closed tear along front flap fold. A very presentable copy, rare signed.
