Gods' Man, Lynd Ward
First edition, second printing of Ward's first book and the first American wordless novel. Consisting entirely of woodblock prints, this Faustian tale of an artist who signs away his soul for a magic paintbrush would prove influential in the development of the graphic novel.
New York: Jonathan Cape & Harrison Smith, 1929. A very good copy. General light shelfwear and rubbing to boards. Internally, binding slightly over-opened in spots, owner's name to second blank, a few minor instances of discoloration. A nice copy, protected in a removable archival sleeve.
