Histoire Litteraire des Fous (Literary History of Madmen), Octave Delepierre
First edition with a tipped in signed letter dated February 20, 1860 from Delepierre to
John Payne Collier, presenting the book as a token of past favors.
Collier was a noted Shakespeare critic and forger. The letter alludes to
an attack on Collier by the British Museum.
London: Trübner & Co, 1860. Octavo, pp. [3], 184, [8] ads; quarter brown morocco with brown pebble cloth boards, spine titled in gilt, top edge gilt.
