Memories and Adventures, Arthur Conan Doyle
Second English edition, first issue. Following the Hodder edition in 1924, this is the first printing from Doyle's regular publisher, John Murray, issued in an edition of 1559 copies. In the preferred binding ruled and titled in gilt, as the covers of copies bound after publication were ruled and titled in white (Green & Gibson, B34, C).
London: John Murray, 1930. Publisher's original dark blue cloth ruled and titled in gilt; pp. 460 [4, ads]. Original light green dust jacket titled in dark blue priced at 7/6. A very good copy in a very good dust jacket. Binding is tight, sturdy and square. Light shelfwear and scattered faint spotting to boards, gilt a bit dulled, minor spot to edge of text block. Scattered foxing internally, frontispiece shows some waviness, else internally clean and fine. Jacket shows light shelfwear and soiling, spine a touch sunned, darkening along joints, protected in archival mylar. A nice copy, rare.
