Opium: The Diary of an Addict, Jean Cocteau
First U.K. Edition, First Printing
London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd., 1933. With illustrations by Cocteau, supposedly created while under the influence of opium, this classic work is a fragmented and hypnotic collection of maxims, stories and reflections, many of them focusing on the drug and its effects. A very good or slightly better copy in a very good dust jacket. Binding is sturdy, with a lean to spine. Light scattered foxing internally and to foredge. Jacket is unclipped, with a price penciled in. Spine tanned, a few smudges, some minor chipping along the edges and a short split between the spine and back panel. Scarce.
