Paradise Lost, John Milton
Edited and with a note on the text by John T. Shawcross, introduction by Helen Vender. This edition pays typographic tribute to two earlier editions of Milton’s epic poem: the second edition of 1674, when the text was divided into twelve books rather than ten, and the second Baskerville edition of 1759. Also included is the short booklet 'Harmonius Numbers Though in Shadiest Covert Hid,' which is the text of a talk given by Shawcross at the Arion Press on January 29, 2003, during its celebration of the publication of this edition of John Milton's Paradise Lost.
San Francisco: The Arion Press, 2002. Original black linen, gilt-stamped purple goat spine label, matching slipcase; pp. xxxiv, 396. In fine condition with traces of rubbing. A beautiful publication.
