One Page Typed and Signed Letter from Philip K. Dick
Typed letter signed (TLS) from Philip K. Dick to the editorial staff at Venom Magazine, dated October 26, 1981, signed "Phil" and with a correction in his own hand. Dick writes he would like to use the pseudonym Chipdip K. Kill for his review of Divine Invasion that was to appear in Venom #3. The issue was never released, but the review was published in PKDS-29. Dick also writes of being "fucked up today" due to "personal problems...girlfriend problems." One page. In near fine condition, with light creasing in the bottom blank area. Accompanied by certificates of authenticity from both JSA and PSA/DNA.
Letter reads in full: "Thank you for your card regarding my review of The Divine Invasion
(boy, am I fucked up today. Personal problems. Girlfriend problems). As a
pseudonym on my review, let's use Chipdip K. Kill. Okay? The clever
reader can trace this down; it is the joke version of my name that John
Sladek used for his pardon of my writing that he titled 'Solar
Shoe-Salesman.' Thus the astute reader can trace it back to me, if he or
she is so inclined. I'm glad my review is okay. By the way—I sent a
carbon of it to my agent, Russell Galen at Scott Meredith, and Russ says
it's as good as anything I've ever done. He frankly found it
hysterically funny. It's nice to have an agent with a sense of humor.
I'll look forward to receiving my 5 copies."
