Roman Orgy, Marcus Van Heller
Very scarce hardcover edition of Heller's erotic retelling of the Spartacus legend, published as part of Olympia Press' Traveller's Companion series. Marcus Van Heller was the pen name of John Stevenson who, after beginning to write for Olympia Press to supplement his income, became one of the most prolific and mysterious writers in the Traveller's Companion series.
Paris: The Olympia Press, 1956. Publisher's original red cloth stamped in gilt, pp. 143. About near fine, with light shelfwear to board extremities and tape residue to flyleaf. This copy came from the Greenleaf Classics archive and has a 3 x 5 notecard laid in. This was presumably done to assess whether they should release an unauthorized reprint, noting that unless they could find a "greeback" edition from before 1956, that it was "probably not worth risk."
