Souvenirs de Pompei
Uncommon album of forty plates detailing various views of the ruins and remains of Pompeii. No date or publisher, but circa 1900. Oblong format, measuring approx. 14.25 x 10.5." Bound in the original cloth binding, lettered and detailed in gilt. White patterned endpapers, with a lithograph frontispiece featuring "Pompei" against a backdrop of the ruins, Vesuvius and multiple figures. Each plate bears captions at the bottom, in labels applied to the negatives, in printed characters.
In about good condition. Binding remains sturdy, with the covers and spine showing wear and staining, cloth near the spine crown starting to peel. Scattered staining to endpapers, with a few instances of stains and smudges in the margins throughout. Pages show some waviness. Photographs are all in quite nice shape.
