Published in the year of his death, Sylva Sylvarum was to be Bacon's collection of materials for building the new science. The book contains 1000 "experiments" grouped into 10 parts (centuries). Also included is Bacon's unfinished utopian novel, New Atlantis, which expressed his aspirations and ideals for mankind.
