The Fortieth Door, Mary Hastings Bradley
First edition, first printing

Scarce first printing of Bradley's fifth book, an exotic romance set in Egypt. Correct blurbs on jacket with a "(1)" on the final page, indicating first printing. New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1920. Binding is sturdy with mild rubbing to board extremities. Faint offsetting to endpapers, a bit of smudging to edge of text block, internally clean with no markings. It appears a page has been neatly clipped after the title page, but uncertain. The unclipped dust jacket shows shelfwear and rubbing, a few closed tears to back panel, toning and some minor instances of discoloration to spine and back panel, protected in archival mylar.
