The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton
First edition, first printing of Hinton's first book. Presentation copy, signed and inscribed by Hinton in the year of publication – "For Mrs. H.W. Bailey – from one of the Outsiders – Best wishes, Susie Hinton 1967". The Outsiders was Hinton's first book, written while she was still in high school, and which is centered around two rival gangs divided by their socioeconomic status: the working-class "Greasers" and the upper-middle-class "Socs." Basis for Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film, starring Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, and Diane Lane. A classic of young adult literature.
