First edition of this collection of Poe's poetry, with an original memoir ((possibly written by Charles F. Briggs, although the attribution has been disputed). Illustrated throughout by John Tenniel, Birket Foster, Filex Darley,Jasper Cropsey, P, Duggan, Percival Skelton, and A.M. Madot.

London: Sampson Low, Son & Co., 1858. Bound in full red morocco, decorated in gilt, all page edges gilt; pp. xxx, [2], 247, [1]. A fair to good copy. Binding intact although hinges starting, lean to spine, spine faded, wear and rubbing to boards, fraying to corners with a bit of loss to spine ends. Owner's signature to title page, scattered light dampstaining and foxing internally. Scarce, protected in a removable archival sleeve.
