The Proud Highway, Hunter S. Thompson

An evocative association copy inscribed by Hunter S. Thompson to Jimmy and Jane Buffett. The inscription, dated Christmas 1997, reads in full:

“To Jimmy & Jane / Xmas ’97 / Now you know why we were fated from the start.”

The book was inscribed by Thompson prior to his 1997 Christmas party and he intended to sign it in person, but he forgot and the book was inadvertently left behind. Furthermore, this copy bears Thompson’s personal blindstamp (HST) impressed into the title page, indicating origin from his own working library.

New York: Villard Books, 1997. Publisher's original black paper-covered boards, spine lettered in gilt; pp. xxxii, [2], 683, [2]. An about very good copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. An appreciated copy, with general shelfwear and rubbing to boards, minor creases to the first handful of pages from signing. Jacket shows minor shelfwear, protected in archival mylar.
