The Satanic Verses, Salman Rushdie
Rare export edition of Rushdie's acclaimed and controversial novel. Meant for the Indian market, almost all of the copies (reportedly 5,000) were pulped after India banned the book. An estimated 500 found their way to the Frankfurt Book Fair and some bookshops in Switzerland and Malta, but even these were quickly withdrawn.
