First edition, first printing of von Neumann's important work on the theory of automata, which contains the fundamental details of his Universal Constrictor, a self-replicating machine in a cellular automata environment. Edited from two manuscripts that remained unpublished upon his death, the book was assembled and completed by Arthur W. Burks.

Binding is tight, sturdy and square, minor bump to top of spine. The unclipped dust jacket is in very good condition, with light shelfwear along the extremities and a few small abrasions to spine. A very presentable copy, protected in archival mylar.
