Ulysses, James Joyce
First English Trade Edition

London: John Lane The Bodley Head, 1937. An important point in the history of the most famous novel of the twentieth century, being the first edition widely available in bookshops in the United Kingdom. A very good or better copy. Binding is tight, sturdy and square. Internally clean. Gilt-stamped titles remain bright. Faint discoloration to cloth boards, small bookshop sticker to front pastedown. The price-clipped dust jacket shows a hair-line split between front panel and spine, neatly backed with two small pieces of tape. Spine toned, with a bit of rubbing. Several instances of chipping, light crease and tear to front panel. Very presentable.
