V2, Der Schuss Ins Weltall (V-2, The Shot into the Universe), Walter Dornberger
First German edition, first printing of Dornberger's account of the development and deployment of the V-2 rocket. Tipped in to the front flyleaf is a postcard from the Hermann Oberth Society, with a cancelled stamp from the 13th Rocket and Space Meeting at Darmstadt, 1964, signed “Walter R. Dornberger, Major General”. Walter Dornberger was a was a leader of Nazi Germany's V-2 rocket program and other projects at the Peenemünde Army Research Centre. After the war, he was brought to the US under the auspices of Operation Paperclip and worked for the United States Air Force, Bell Laboratories and was an advisor to NASA. The German edition of v-2 precedes the English translation by two years.
