First edition, first printing of cummings' fifth collection of poetry, consisting of 70 poems printed one to a page and including some of his most experimental poems as well as some of his most memorable. From the collection of Louis Sobol, one of the twentieth century America's most popular celebrity columnists, with her bookplate affixed to the front pastedown.

Binding remains sturdy and square, toning to board edges, light shelfwear to extremities. Jacket shows general shelfwear, with a few closed tears, creases and chips, tape reinforcments to verso. Protected in archival mylar.
