Why I Want to Fuck Ronald Reagan, J.G. Ballard
Rare first edition, first printing of Ballard's notorious and deliberately provocative short story, written in the form of a mock scientific report examining the psychosexual appeal of then–California governor Ronald Reagan. The publication of the pamphlet led to a police raid of Unicorn Books and a seizure of 3 of the pamphlets. Furthermore, in 1970 Doubleday attempted to include the text as an appendix to the first U.S. edition of The Atrocity Exhibition; copies were reportedly destroyed prior to release, further contributing to the pamphlet’s desirability and complicated publication history. A striking artifact of late-1960s avant-garde literature and political satire.
Brighton, England: The Unicorn Bookshop, 1968. Publisher's original silk-screened wrappers printed in red and blue; pp. [18].
