The Squire of Alsatia, Thomas Shadwell
First edition of one of Shadwell's most successful plays, first performed at the Drury Lane Theatre. One of the best-remembered roles, that of the shrewish Mrs. Termagant was first performed by Elizabeth Boutell. It was revived numerous times during the eighteenth century.

Bound in modern brown sheepskin, with title square dyed in black, stamped in gilt, raise bands and gilt-stamped lines to spine, modern endpapers; pp. (viii), 72. Hint of a smudge to front cover, else binding and covers fine. Pages toned and foxed, with scattered soiling, several pages show areas of minor loss and creasing, a couple notations to dramatis personae, loss to title page not affecting text. Overall in nice shape. Rare.
