La Grande Chasse au Requin, Hunter S. Thompson

Presentation copy of the third volume of the first French edition of The Great Shark Hunt, inscribed by Hunter S. Thompson to the book's translator, Philippe Delamare, to the half-title and title page. Written from Thompson’s Owl Farm in Woody Creek, Colorado and dated “Owl Farm: July 25 ’81,” the inscription reads in full: “To Philippe Delamare — Thanx for all the work you put into this translation. I hope it reads like I meant it to… And I hope you enjoyed doing it. Good luck.” Thompson signs boldly in his characteristic large red marker, adding an additional "Ex Libris" and signature to the opposite page (verso of front cover). Copies inscribed by Thompson to the translators of his works are rare and carry an especially strong association.

Paris: Les Humanoïdes Associés, 1981. Octavo, publisher’s original pictorial wrappers; pp. [x], 397-841, [6]. About very good. Binding sturdy, spine uncreased, general shelfwear present with a bit of smudging and thumbsoiling to text block edges. Presumably read by Hunter and or Delamare.
