House of Leaves, Mark Z. Danielewski
First UK edition, first printing of Danielewski’s brilliant debut novel, one of just 200 copies issued in hardcover. Signed by the author with his characteristic “Z” in blue ink on the dedication page, dated “10/1/00” and inscribed “in NZ.” A scarce copy of this “demonically brilliant book” whose publishing history is nearly as difficult to pin down as the text itself.
London: Anchor; New Zealand: Hard Echo Press Ltd., 2000. Black-and-white edition. Original black boards, spine lettered in gilt; pp. xxiii, [2], 709. A near fine copy in a very good or better dust jacket. Trace of a bump to rear corner, minor spot of rubbing to edge of text bock. Jacket shows light rubbing and edgewear with a crease to the base of the front panel. Very presentable, protected in archival mylar.
