One of 127 copies of this striking depiction of Poprishchin's descent into madness, of which this is number 26. In three parts, consisting of: Letterforms and Graphics Book, photo-lithographed throughout with artwork by Steinmetz and calligraphy by Cataldo, Story Book, and a photo-lithographed envelope with wax seal. 

Both volumes signed by Steinmetz, Cataldo, translator Gaile Sarma, and designer John Horner, and with fictitious signatures of Gogol and the fictional diarist Aksentii Poprishchin.
