The Horror on the Asteroid and Other Tales of Planetary Horror, Edmund Hamilton

First edition, first printing of the author's first book and one of the earliest collections of pulp science fiction stories. Collecting stories from Weird Tales and sci-fi specialty pulps of the late 1920s and early 1930s, the book was also one of the titles in the publisher's Creeps series of anthologies, highlighting how science fiction and horror as separate genres had not yet been established.

London: Philip Alan, 1936. Publisher's original red cloth boards, spine lettered in black, pp. [1-8] 9-256. One of three variant bindings, priority not known. A very good or better copy in a fair to good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding sound, minimal wear to boards, area of light fading to spine. Jacket priced at "2/6 net" on spine, below which is a sticker indicating a reduced price. Jacket shows an area of loss to spine where white paper has been affixed to verso with tape. Else, some general shelfwear, crease to back panel, a few closed tears reinforced with tape to verso, protected in archival mylar. Rare in the dust jacket.
