A Grief Observed, N.W. Clerk (C.S. Lewis)
First American edition, first printing of Lewis' raw, intimate account of his crisis of faith and profound sorrow after his wife’s 1960 death. First published in Britain two years earlier, Lewis chose the pseudonym of N.W. Clerk to avoid being constantly approached or questioned about the deeply personal, agonizing spiritual doubts he was experiencing.
