Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
Illustrated by Lynd Ward
First edition thus of Shelley's immensely influential Gothic horror, being the first printing illustrated by Lynd Ward, with his striking woodcuts throughout. With the scarce original glassine jacket.
New York: Harrison Smith and Robert Haas, 1934. Publisher's original tan cloth, black and blue illustration to covers; pp. x, 259. A very good or better copy, with the original glassine jacket and housed in the original slipcase. Binding remains tight, sturdy and square, minimal wear to boards, spine hardly toned, thanks to the jacket, which is worn along the extremities. Contemporary gift inscription to flyleaf, else internally clean. Slipcase is worn and sunned but remains sturdy. Uncommon with the book in this condition.
