Limited first edition of Beerbohm's portfolio containing his five caricatures of stars from Noel Coward's 1929 operetta 'Bitter Sweet' – Noel Coward, Peggy Wood, Georges Metaxa, Ivy St. Helier, and Charles Cochran. Contents complete, with a facsimile of a letter by Beerbohm, plus five large color plates, along
with title and contents sheets, laid loosely in quarter vellum and
boards portfolio with gilt-stamped letters. The original portfolio is now housed in a custom cloth drop-back box with morocco spine labels lettered in gilt.
London: Leadlay, 1931. Number 186 of 900 copies. Light edgewear to outer box with sunning to spine labels; light wear to portfolio with darkening ot edges, offsetting to title page, crease to envelope. Internally contents are fine.
